The “Hamburgler” has been arrested in connection to a robbery at a McDonald’s restaurant in Maryland.
27-year-old Jessica Marie Cross, was arrested and charged with burglary and theft. Surveillance video shows cross stealing a box of items along with a soft drink -that she poured herself- but investigators believes she also stole $1,400 in cash.
After reviewing all of the surveillance footage from the restaurant, they alleged Cross pulled up to the drive-through in a Hyudai Sonata and tried to place an order even though the McDonald’s was closed.
Cross was then seen on footage, released by the Howard County Police Department, pushing open the drive-through which was left unlocked. After climbing in the window she spent around 35 minutes in the store stealing cash, a purse, food items and Happy Meal toys. After committing her crime she attempted to disable the surveillance system, wipe her fingerprints from things she touched, such as the cash drawers.
In an attempt to identify Cross, aka the “Hamburgler,” police released some of the surveillance footage on social media and it quickly went viral.
After tips flooded in, investigators were able to determine Cross was the suspect by matching her car to the one at the scene.
Cross agreed to turn herself in this morning and is currently in the Howard County Detention Center, according to WBAL.
