Traffic on a Chinese highway was brought to a halt by a common problem, geese crossing the road, in an uncommon quantity — there were 1,300 of the animals.
The Erguang Expressway, which links the southern Guangdong province with Inner Mongolia in the north, came to a halt in the Zonzi River Bridge area near Jingzhou, Hubei province, when a pair of farmers attempted to take a shortcut by walking their flock of 1,300 geese along the road.
Video from the scene shows the geese taking up two lanes of the highway before traffic police arrived and limited the water fowl to a single lane, using traffic cones to divert cars around them.
Police eventually determined the geese were too much of a hazard and ordered the farmers to take the birds off the road.
