A Georgia woman got more than she bargained for after buying a box of Legos that turned out to be stuffed with meth, officials said.
The woman, who was not identified, was shopping with her two friends when she purchased the box of blocks at a consignment shop in South Carolina, the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.
After she returned home and opened the box with her child, the two discovered that there was more than three pounds of methamphetamine inside, the sheriff’s office said.
Bulloch County Sheriff’s Investigator Jim Riggs told the Statesboro Herald he estimated the total amount of meth was worth around $40,000.
The woman alerted authorities of the drugs and investigators contacted the Drug Enforcement Agency for assistance.
The DEA believes the consignment store did not know what was actually in the box before selling it to the woman, the sheriff’s office said.
No charges are expected to be filed.
