A Louisiana girl, whose family lost almost everything they had in the recent floods, is cherishing the small gift she received from a local sheriff’s deputy.
6-year old Aubree Wise of Denham Springs, La. has been through a lot lately. Just several months ago, she had to undergo open heart surgery.
Over the last week, her family has been struggling with the cleanup efforts in the aftermath of major flooding in the Baton Rouge area.
Bossier Parish Deputy Ryan Rhodes has been up and down their street the last few days keeping the residents safe and helping them during this difficult period.
Over the weekend, he noticed Aubree playing outside and remembered he had a small stuffed animal in his car, he told KSLA News.
Deputy Rhodes immediately turned his patrol car around to bring the stuffed toy to Aubree. The little girl was so excited and gave Rhodes the biggest hug. Their special moment was captured on camera and has since gone viral.
Aubree’s mom, Brandy, says the little dino is now her daughter’s new best friend. She says the last couple of days she’s even been sleeping with him.
Brandy added: “She wanted everyone in Bossier Parish to be very proud and thankful of their deputies, and that having them made everyone feel safer, despite the destruction and devastation.”
