Iowa state trooper narrowly avoids pickup sliding off road, slamming into pulled over vehicle

Dashcam video taken from a delivery truck shows the frightening moment an out-of-control pickup truck drove off the road and nearly hit an Iowa state trooper and a stranded delivery truck driver during a blizzard.

The incident occurred on 1-80 in Western Iowa on Friday, the Iowa State Patrol said.

In the video, the trooper and delivery driver trudge in front of the truck as a white pickup drives off the road and slides down an embankment before t-boning the delivery truck, barely missing the trooper and delivery man who get out of the pickup truck’s path with no time to spare.

Cargo from the pickup truck’s bed flies into the air as it slams into the delivery truck.

Police said that neither the trooper, the pickup driver, or the AMCON Distributing Company delivery truck driver were injured.

“If you have to be out driving during inclement weather — slow down and be aware of the road conditions,” Iowa State Patrol said.
