Massachusetts was hit by a rash of powerful thunderstorms on Saturday that featured a plenty of lightning, including a strike that made a direct hit on a boat moored in South Boston.

Harry Minucci was recording at Columbia Yacht Club and captured the strike on video.

Shockingly, no one was aboard the boat at the time, so no injuries were reported.

The National Weather Service retweeted a version of the video and said, “This video from Boston is a great example of why we say ‘When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors!’ ”

According to a BoatUS review of boat insurance claims, sailboats and powerboats are the most likely types of seacraft to be struck by lightning.
