A mischievous German Shepherd-Husky mix named Chico was the guest of honor at a police station in Odessa, Texas, after he wandered in to say hello.

Chico made his appearance on February 11, when he moseyed into the ODP station and stood with both front paws on the counter.

“So, this happy guy randomly strolled into the front desk of the Police Department last night,” a member of the agency wrote on a regional law enforcement Facebook page. “We’re thinking he wanted to apply for a K-9 position after eliminating a Lassie type situation.”

Eventually, Chico excused himself and left after having a little fun.

“He was given lots of love and attention until he decided it was time for him to leave,” the post read. “He let himself out and after an exhausting search was not found. We were relieved to learn he safely returned to his owner. Chico is welcome back anytime.”

His owner, Edward Alvarado, was happy to see Chico return to him on his own.

“We were going to have him at my dad’s store to be a guard dog,” said Alvarado in an interview with NewsWest9. “He doesn’t take stuff seriously.”
