A Texas man is in pain but expected to fully recover after being struck by lightning while walking his dogs.
A security camera at the Stuebner Airline Veterinary Hospital in Spring, outside Houston, caught the dramatic moment Alex Coreas was struck and the aftermath as he was rescued.
Christy Mittler, who works at the hospital, saw the strike and immediately sprang into action. She and others ran to him where they saw his clothes were charred and his socks and shoes were gone.
The strike left a large hole in the concrete.
Mittler and other good Samaritans performed CPR on Coreas until they could feel a pulse.
“We rolled him over and we were sweeping out his stuff. We were knocking him on his back, telling him, ‘It’s okay. You got hit by lightning,'” Mittler told ABC 13.
Coreas was walking his three dogs at the time. The strike scared them and they ran off, but all three dogs were found by deputies shortly thereafter.
