A Roseville woman was arrested Saturday for allegedly punching, kicking and spitting at Troy police officers while drunk — before being transported to a hospital for eating a pair of earrings.

The incident left Sylvia Verellen, 33, charged with hindering and obstructing a police officer, aggravated assault and battery of a police officer and assault and battery of a police officer, according to Channel 4 (WDIV).

At about 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, officers arrived at 600 block of Jamaica Drive. The homeowner’s son said that he’d asked his girlfriend, Verellen to leave, but officers said she was intoxicated and refused.

As they tried to escort her out, Verellen allegedly punched an officer, prompting the arrest. Police carried her out of the house while she attempted to kick them, police said. Then she reportedly lunged for an officer’s gun.

By the time they put her in the patrol car, police said, she spat at them. Verellen later hit a police aide twice during the holding process before saying that she had eaten a pair of earrings, police said.

Verellen was sent to the hospital and now is being held on $2,000 bail in an Oakland County jail. She was arraigned Monday.
