Painesville, Ohio — A 49-year-old man is accused of pulling an iguana from beneath his shirt and throwing it at a Perkins Restaurant manager Tuesday morning, police say.
The incident happened just before noon at the restaurant on Mentor Avenue near Nelson Street, police said.
The man, who faces charges of animal cruelty, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, was not identified by police in a Facebook post put up Tuesday afternoon. Police did not return several calls for the man’s name and additional records.
The man swung the iguana above his head by its tail and threw the iguana at a store manager, police said.
The man left the restaurant and an officer found the man nearby on Mentor Avenue. Officers took him into custody.
Police did not say what provoked the man to throw the iguana or why he had his iguana at the restaurant to begin with.
