Police have charged a North Carolina father with simple assault and disorderly conduct after he tackled his son’s opponent during a high school wrestling match over the weekend.

Barry Lee Jones of Harrisburg, N.C., was captured on video as he rushed and tackled the student from Southeast Guilford High School. FOX8 reports that the student was not injured.

Cabarrus County Schools issued the following statement to WCNC: “We have expectations for student decorum and sportsmanship during athletic and extra-curricular events, and our expectations for spectators are no different. The actions displayed by a spectator at the wrestling match on Jan. 18, 2020, fall far below our expectations. We do not condone his actions.”

You can see video of the attack as provided to WCNC above.
