Popeye’s suggest customers BYOB during sandwich shortage

The new Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen chicken sandwich made its nationwide debut on Aug. 12, and after a week of heavy praise online is selling out everywhere.

As hungry customers around the country continue to lament the shortage of Popeye’s new chicken sandwiches, the company suggested a life hack to help customers who can’t wait.

You have to get a little creative, but in a new video posted by Popeye’s the company suggests customer bring their own bun and order a three-piece chicken tender meal to hold them over.

“Try our new BYOB! It’s basically The Sandwich! Only no mayo. Or pickles. And you bring your own bun… Really it’s just three tenders…” reads a description on one of the posts. Clearly the company is having fun with the fact that customers are anxiously waiting for the return of the sandwich. But a definitive timetable for when it will be back has not been released by Popeye’s.

The Popeye’s chicken sandwich took the country by storm last month, selling out in many locations a week after it was released. The breaded chicken sandwich comes topped with mayo and pickles and rivals that of the infamous Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich according to some customers. Some say the Popeye’s version is even better.

Our MLive Michigan’s Best Team was able to score one of the sandwiches before they sold out. Here’s what they though after comparing it against Chick-fil-A and Wendy’s chicken sandwiches.
