Bethany — A former Putnam City Schools employee who worked at an elementary school has been arrested on complaints of lewd acts with a 14-year-old boy.
Elizabeth Madrid, 29, a former attendance secretary at Western Oaks Elementary School, was arrested Friday, Bethany police reported.
Bethany police began investigating allegations of a relationship between the victim and Madrid on Friday. The relationship began with texting in early 2017 and became physical during summer last year and continued until Madrid’s arrest Friday, police allege.
Officers searched Madrid’s home after receiving reports that the victim had been living with her for two weeks, according to a search warrant affidavit.
The victim’s mother told investigators she believed her son had been staying with his father during that period, police reported. She contacted his father and learned the boy hadn’t been there.
Madrid was an attendance secretary at Western Oaks Elementary from August 2016 to May 2018, when she resigned, said Steve Lindley, Putnam City Schools spokesman.
Madrid was taken to the Oklahoma County jail, where she was booked on complaints of second-degree rape and lewd acts with a child. She remained in jail Monday on $550,000 bail, jail records showed.
