A search was underway in California Thursday morning for the suspect or suspects who stole a hearse with the body of a dead woman still inside.
The black Lincoln Navigator was parked outside St. Anthony’s Church in unincorporated Pasadena when it was taken just after 8 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
There were two bodies in the car, one of which was being dropped off when the vehicle disappeared. According to KABC, the first was in a casket while the deceased person left in the vehicle was placed inside a body bag.
There was also a funeral service unfolding inside the church when the incident occurred Wednesday, but investigators said it was not linked to the missing body.
The sheriff’s department in a tweet called on those behind the theft to come forward and to, at the very least, return the body.
“To the suspect(s) driving around in a Black Lincoln Navigator stolen from the 700 blk of Rosemead Bl just after 8 p.m. today in uninc #Pasadena: Out of all the bad decisions you have made, at least make on good one & bring back the deceased person and casket inside the Navigator,” deputies said.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
