Video captures 18-wheeler truck stuck on tracks hit by train

The Cibolo Police Department is urging truck drivers to use caution when crossing railroad tracks after an 18-wheeler was hit by an Amtrak passenger train Tuesday morning.

The 18-wheeler was hit at around 7 a.m. after getting stuck on the railroad tracks at FM78 and Country Lane, according to police. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not in the truck at the time of the crash.

Amtrak said there were 116 passengers on board at the time. No injuries were reported.

After the accident, Cibolo PD tweeted a video showing the train crashing into the 18-wheeler, causing damage to the front of the semi.

Police said the city of Cibolo has placed signs that warn trucks of high-centered tracks. However, drivers may not see the signs coming from at least one direction because the city does not place signs on land it does not own, police said. Some of the land in the area is owned by Union Pacific and the Texas Department of Transportation.

Police said the city is working with Union Pacific and TxDOT to install proper signs.
